Our family had an emergency situation with an athletic incident, and we had to call Dr. McCullough on a whim. And Dr. McCullough graciously said, “Meet me right away at the dentist’s office.” It was after his working hours, and he met us at the door, greeted us. He greeted our little girl who was crying and terribly upset, and he calmed her nerves.

He made sure that she understood that he was going to take care of her. For my husband and myself, it was such a relief to know that we didn’t even have to go out of town to get exceptional care and in an emergency situation. So we were so thrilled that we could just come right here. Dr. McCullough called one of his assistants, also after hours, and she dropped everything to come here and to help us in our great emergency.

The care that we received following that, we were asked to come back in a week for a checkup. We were asked to come back two weeks after that for another checkup. We received phone calls. We just couldn’t believe the level of care that we received for our little girl in her oral emergency.

I feel like this place is really a great family practice. I started seeing Dr. McCullough before I had children, and my husband did too, and we knew right away when we had kids that this was the place that we would take them to. And so Dr. McCullough has been great for my husband and me and now for our three children as well. One thing that I really appreciate about Dr. McCullough is that he is a great family man. And he understands busy schedules, and he knows that lots of kids have church activities, sports activities. He gets that.

So when I call and say, “I need an appointment,” and try to get all three of my kids in on the same date, his practice works so hard with me on a busy schedule. And I know that each of the girls that I call and talk with, they get it too. Everyone that works here is a family person, so they understand and we all appreciate working with each other in the busy schedules.

Greenville Family Dentistry has worked with us with orthodontics in two different ways. Our oldest son used the clear method, where they put on a clear protector, and his teeth look great, and that worked really well for him. We knew that that was the best option for him because Dr. McCullough looked at his teeth, looked at what the issues were, and he said, “You know, I think that this route would be a better fit,” and so we really trusted knowing that there were options out there, and that Dr. McCullough offered them both, but he knew which one would be best for our child.

Our other son also had orthodontic care with Dr. McCullough, but we went with the traditional route, and again, Dr. McCullough looked at his mouth, understood what his needs were, and, although there were options, he helped us decide which one was the best fit for that child’s needs.

We really like to recommend Dr. McCullough for orthodontic care. I know so many people go out-of-town for those kind of services, but we have that right here in our small community, and we are so pleased with the orthodontic care that both of our sons have received. Their teeth look great, and believe me, working around the crazy basketball-baseball-football schedules, it is so great. We can come early, we can go late. Dr. McCullough will work around those ball schedules for you.

I had decided that I wanted to try the ClearCorrect. I had never been happy with my smile. I felt like my teeth slanted in. I had a few that were crooked. And I thought, “As an adult, I think I’m going to do something for myself and I’m gonna try this.” I have been pleasantly surprised and very pleased. I have finished with my ClearCorrect plan and so now I just use a retainer at night and wake up with my smile in the morning. My reaction after using ClearCorrect was very, very good. I sometimes find myself smiling when I probably shouldn’t.

I’m just very happy with my smile now. My smile now is, in my eyes, more pleasing. You know, before I would smile with my lips closed, and now I’m showing my pearly whites for sure. So, anyone that has ever asked me, “Hey, how did you really like using that ClearCorrect plan?” I would strongly suggest I was pleased with it. I felt like, you know, it didn’t take quite as long as I would say maybe regular braces, and I always had that clear smile because you couldn’t see them if they were clear. So, I would strongly suggest to anyone that would think about it, that they should give it a try.

I felt anxiety in many different ways, from things where I was mistreated from a dentist as a child, and I had actually had a tooth extracted with his knee in my chest as a child with no shots, nothing. Those kind of scars carry with you to the next dentist. And over the years, I have had some more bad experiences that just fed fuel onto that fire. Anyone that’s had that real bad toothache, you know, that you’re driven to the dentist eventually. So, eventually, you know, one by one, I would go. And over the years I’ve had some really good experiences with a lot of dentists.

That’s all I was expecting when I came to Greenville Family Dentistry was to just get a single tooth pulled. After coming in here and meeting with Dr. McCullough, I more than felt comfortable, and in a nutshell, that got me in the door. He conducted himself professionally in every instance that I spoke to him. And professionalism, it’s important to everyone. Rather than anticipating something dreadful, I felt comfortable to come. And to me from past experiences, that was a push to make me feel welcome.

If I was to speak to someone that had anxieties and fears about a dentist, I would probably share some really dreadful stories from my past and then assure them that they had nothing to fear here.

When I say that I’ve had a lot of dental work, I have definitely had a lot of dental work. I have several crowns in my mouth. And the most recent one, we were on vacation. We were in Florida on the beach, and I bit down on something and part of my crown, a previous crown from a previous practice broke off. Immediately I was afraid because I knew that meant I was going to have to come straight back from vacation and have crown work done.

And so, I called as soon as I got back. They got me in immediately just to check and see if it needed immediate attention. It did not. So, I was able to push it out just a little bit, maybe like a week or two, and they got me in. He was able to remove the old crown, clean up decay that was underneath. There was decay underneath. I’d had a previous root canal, so, we didn’t know. I couldn’t tell. A lot of the time I feel like I come in with a dental issue, sometimes it’s pain, sometimes there’s usually been a crack in the tooth. And Dr. McCullough will investigate. Sometimes you can’t tell until…X-rays are great, but you can’t tell until you get in there and see what’s underneath the tooth. And so, he always cleans it up beautifully. I’ve been worried on several occasions that I was going to lose a tooth. I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough to salvage. And he is a little bit of a miracle worker because he’s always been able to save the tooth, salvage the tooth and protect it.

I think that truly the only way to get past the dental anxiety, at least as I have realized, is to just come and experience it, experience the way that they care for you, experience the way that they consistently make sure that you leave without pain. It’s just the experience that you have over time where you’re able to see, “I don’t have to be afraid when I come.” I think that it’s normal just to have a little bit of anxiety before you do anything. But to have the kind of crippling fear that keeps you from making an appointment, to have that anxiety that makes you not get the care that you need, that’s dangerous. And so anytime you can find a place where you aren’t afraid to pick up the phone and call and make an appointment. The only way that I can explain it is to say, “You just have to give it a try.” You just have to come to Greenville Family Dentistry and let them show you, let them prove to you that you don’t have to be anxious.

It’s something that you’ll learn over time. That’s what I had to do. I came from some really, really hard experiences at dental practices in the past, and I brought those with me. I brought those fears with me, and they alleviated those fears right away. And so, at the beginning of my experience here, I carried more. Now when I come in, it feels more peaceful. It feels more joyful when I come in because I know they’re going to take care of me, and I know I’m gonna leave in a better state than I came in.

Nichole: One of my biggest things that I struggled with was my bottom row of my teeth and my smile. I do a lot of talking, and I do a lot of presentations, I talk to a lot of families and I was always very insecure with my smile. And being a patient at Greenville Family Dentistry, I asked, you know, “Can I get something to help straighten my smile and not necessarily braces per se?” And I met with Dr. McCullough and his staff and I had a consultation, and we decided that the clear aligners would be best for me. You know, my smile wasn’t terrible, but it was something that I was insecure about, and Dr. McCullough was like, “Hey, if this is something you don’t wanna struggle with, we’ll get it fixed.”

So I had a consultation and then we did some scans. I was very fortunate to only have the clear aligners for like three months, and then my smile was beyond what I ever expected it to be. It built my confidence so much. I was amazed on how fast your teeth can shift. And it was just the clear aligners. I didn’t have to do braces, I didn’t have to deal with wires, didn’t wanna change how I ate. And I was very, very happy and pleased with the clearer aligners and the staff reassuring me that it is a successful process and, you know, “We will get it straightened out and we will make you feel better about your smile.”

So after receiving clear aligner therapy and completing my treatment plan, my confidence was significantly increased. I was excited to take Snapchat videos talking, you know, because I had straight teeth. I have referred many a friend to getting it and encouraging them that, you know, it works, it works fast. And here I am, I was three months in and I didn’t have terrible teeth, but I didn’t have straight teeth, and they changed right in front of me. Like I said, I didn’t have to do the brackets, I didn’t have to do the waxing, and the clearer aligner was very convenient for my lifestyle.
I’m a younger mom, like, I’m always on the go, and, you know, I’m 30, so I didn’t really want braces. It’s kind of like a fashion thing, I guess, too, in a sense. No one even knew I had them. You couldn’t tell really, unless you were really up close talking to me. So I just liked that they were just convenient and kind of under, behind the curtain type thing, but still got the job done.
